When skin loses its elasticity and begins to sag, it often becomes resistant to tightening with traditional diet and exercise. Abdominoplasty, better known as a tummy tuck, is a body contouring procedure that is designed to remove excess skin and loose tissue from the abdomen area for a slimmer, smoother contour.
Who Is A Good Candidate For A Tummy Tuck in Georgia?
A tummy tuck is best for patients who are healthy and already at a stable weight. Because it is not a fat reduction procedure like liposuction, the tummy tuck in Georgia is intended for those who are close to their goal body size but have struggled with loose, hanging skin around the abdomen. Problems with excess skin can often happen due to factors such as:
- Massive weight loss
You also may have the option to pair your tummy tuck with liposuction in order to reduce stubborn deposits of fat for an improved flattening of your abdomen.
Your Tummy Tuck Procedure
Dr. Al Rosenthal will begin by making a horizontal incision above your pubic hairline just below your underwear line. From here, Dr. Rosenthal is able to repair weakened or damaged abdominal muscles and remove excess skin and tissue. Liposuction may also be used to remove any excess fat as well.
Once your incisions are closed, Dr. Rosenthal will wrap your abdomen with a special elastic bandage to ensure proper healing and to minimize swelling. You will need to spend a couple of weeks recovering and take some time off of work. Each patient heals differently, so please don’t hesitate to call with any questions. You will notice a flatter, smoother contouring of your abdomen fairly quickly after your surgery and the scars will continue to lighten and fade over time.
