Basal Cell Carcinoma

Basal cell is the most common type of skin cancer.  In fact it is the most common of any cancer.  Risk factors are well described and include:

  • Sun exposure, especially in the mid-day sun and tanning beds, which has close to the same risk.
  • Bad sunburns, especially in childhood and adolescence
  • Fair skin
  • Age - the older you are the more likely to have basal cell.  However it can occur at any age
